¡Hola!

I'm Cristina Carrera, a first-generation Mexican-American therapist dedicated to guiding individuals and families towards healing and growth. With a heart deeply rooted in the rich tapestry of Latino culture and a passion for supporting diverse communities, I offer a nurturing space where you can explore your inner landscape and navigate life's challenges with resilience and grace. Además, hablo español, lo que me permite ofrecer un apoyo más accesible y significativo a la comunidad hispanohablante.

🌸 My practice is informed by a holistic understanding of trauma and resilience. I have extensive experience supporting:

  • New Moms and Motherhood Transition: Parenthood can be both exhilarating and overwhelming. Together, we'll navigate this beautiful journey, addressing the joys, fears, and adjustments that come with welcoming a new life.

  • Bicultural Issues in the Latino Community: As a bridge between cultures, I provide culturally sensitive therapy to individuals and families navigating the complexities of straddling multiple worlds.

  • Foster Youth: I'm committed to providing a safe haven for foster youth, offering support, understanding, and guidance as they navigate the challenges of the foster care system and transition into adulthood.

  • Grieving Families: Loss is an inevitable part of life, but healing is possible. I walk alongside grieving families, offering compassionate support and gentle guidance as they navigate the journey of grief and find solace in remembrance.

  • Anxiety and Depression in Children and Teens: Growing up in today's world can be daunting. I offer a safe space for children and teens to express their emotions, develop coping strategies, and build resilience in the face of anxiety and depression.

  • Family Therapy: I work with families to enhance communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen family bonds.

  • Parenting Work: I support parents in developing effective parenting strategies, fostering healthy family dynamics, and navigating the challenges of raising children.

    🎨 Modalities

In my practice, I integrate modalities from play and art therapy to create a nurturing environment where clients can express themselves creatively and connect with their inner worlds. Through play and artistic expression, we can unlock insights, process emotions, and foster healing in a gentle and empowering way. Additionally, I utilize a relationship-based approach, where our connection helps inspire, motivate, and support you in making positive changes in your life.

    🌟 Approach to Therapy

My approach is rooted in empathy, cultural sensitivity, and collaboration. I honor your unique journey and experiences, recognizing the strength and wisdom within you. Together, we'll explore your inner landscape, unearth your strengths, and cultivate the resilience needed to thrive in today's world.
